One of the older continuously operating altcoin exchanges, trading since 2013 under the Gate.io name and now presenting itself as Gate on the gate.com domain, a change it rolled out in May 2025 alongside a new logo. The rebrand is cosmetic: gate.io still resolves and the same operator runs both. What is worth knowing is that the corporate side is hard to pin down, and in April 2025 the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority published a notice stating that Gate.io and Gate Global Corp are not and have never been registered, licensed or regulated by it as a virtual asset service provider.
