eigenwallet (formerly UnstoppableSwap)
7.5/10 total
Desktop software that performs true BTC to XMR atomic swaps using the COMIT adaptor-signature protocol, forked from comit-network/xmr-btc-swap and renamed from UnstoppableSwap in 2025. You run the app, pick a maker from a public list, and the swap either completes or refunds; no operator ever holds both sides. Swaps only run in one direction for takers, Bitcoin in and Monero out, so it cannot replace a general-purpose swapper. Development is unusually active, with release 4.13.2 in July 2026 and commits to eigenwallet/core the same month.
Scores
Weights are published in the method and applied identically to every entry.
For
- Genuinely atomic: the protocol refunds rather than trusting a counterparty, so there is no operator that can freeze or seize a swap in progress
- No account, no email, no verification path exists in the software at all
- All network traffic runs over a built-in Tor integration, and there is a CLI as well as a GUI
- GPL-3.0 and verifiably alive: last push to eigenwallet/core was 2026-07-31, latest tagged release 4.13.2 on 2026-07-23
- Signed release binaries for Linux, macOS and Windows
Against
- One pair only, BTC and XMR, and takers can only go Bitcoin to Monero; selling XMR for BTC is not available to ordinary users
- Liquidity is thin and comes from a small set of independent makers, so large swaps may not fill and quoted rates can sit well above market
- You must install and run desktop software and wait out on-chain confirmations on both chains; a swap is minutes to hours, not seconds
- Maker spread is not published anywhere, so the real cost is not measurable in advance from the project's own materials
- Take downloads only from eigenwallet.org or the eigenwallet GitHub organisation; at least one lookalike domain markets the same name and is not linked from either
Agent access 6/10
There is a scriptable swap CLI and an Automated Swap Backend with an RPC interface, both documented, and no account or API key is needed. An agent still has to install the binary, run a local daemon and tolerate multi-block settlement, so this is not a hosted quote-and-go API.
Reported separately and not counted in the total. It measures what an autonomous agent can do unattended, not whether the service is safe to use.
Fees
0% protocol fee, maker sets the rate
There is no protocol or platform fee. Your entire cost is the spread the individual maker quotes plus Bitcoin and Monero network fees, and makers set their own rates, so the effective markup varies by counterparty and is usually worse than a custodial instant swapper's headline rate. Compare quotes across makers before committing.
